The Data Scientist role is a critical role for Digital Media, Marketing and E-commerce organizations at Jacobs Douwe Egberts. Therefore, the key to this role is effectively leveraging the right tools, methodology and data available both internally and externally for identifying the consumers and their needs at every step of their decision journey.
We are hiring for 2 positions for this role. One will focus on topics such as Customer segmentation, Look-alike audiences, Lead scoring & propensity modelling, marketing automation and help translate strategic audiences for activations across digital media platforms. And other will focus on topics such as Channel and Content optimization, Multi-touch attribution, Churn analytics, Consumer choice modelling and Product Recommendation engine. Together they will help develop an understanding of the impact of changing audience, channel, content and investment strategies on sales, brand health and consumer life-time value.
In this role you will be a part of matrix organization and closely collaborate with Media, Marketing & Branding teams, E-commerce specialists, marketing intelligence experts, external media and creative agencies and our key data partners. Your objective will be to translate 1P, 2P and 3P data we collect into actionable insights by applying advanced statistical, data fusion, mining and machine learning methods.
As such this role requires not only the prerequisite technical skillset but also a strong understanding of how digital marketing works in practice as well as a good know-how of Ad-Tech and Mar-Tech landscape.

Below are the requirements to be successful in this role:
• University/Master’s Degree in area of Marketing or Finance or Mathematics or Statistics or Data Science or Computer science.
• 3-5 years of experience as a data scientist preferably within digital marketing and/or ecommerce functions for FMCG/retail companies.
• Good know-how of ad-tech and mar-tech landscape e.g. Google Campaign Manager, Google Ads, Facebook Business Manager, Amazon Search/DSP, DV360, Salesforce etc.
• Demonstrable experience in using advanced analytics to build customer segments for online campaign activation.
• Practical experience with time series modelling, RFM segmentation, K-means clustering, Churn analytics using Logistic regression methods, Pareto/NBD models for predicting life-time value, lead & propensity scoring and Customer choice modelling.
• Familiar with latest techniques regarding data triangulation, - calibration - imputation, - fusion and – enrichment.
• Experience with 3P data sources, ideally in a FMCG environment. E.g. Scantrack data (Nielsen), HH panel (GFK/Kantar), Marketing Trackers, Marketplace web-scrapers, Web traffic analyzers, Digital panel providers and Media planning tools.
• Applied knowledge of R or Python (and use of its ML libraries)
• Working knowledge of analytics tools such as Power BI, Alteryx and cloud platforms such as Google (Big Query), Microsoft Azure (SQL).
• Problem solving aptitude and entrepreneurial mindset.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills in English.
• Experience with Kaggle data sets or Kaggle competitions in nice to have.
